15.                         High School Drama Analysis

The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is a American High School TV Drama which is based on the book series by L.J.Smith.

Camera

In this title sequence, the director has used many ranges of shot types.
The first shot used in this is a long shot which shows the audience where the drama is being filmed. This one shows the audience that it is shot on a long dark road with a car driving along it.

The next shot which is shown is a moving animation, graphics and CGI and so is the title 'The Vampire Diaries'. This attracts audience and is fascinating to the viewers eyes. It shows the title of the drama in a clear and obvious way as the colours used are also very bold and bright; colours such as red, black, yellow and etc. This is all show on a black background and the animation which is moving is the fire flames turning into roses.

There is then a extreme closeup of an eye opening, Followed by a fade in to a closeup of someone flicking through a diary. This is shows the audience and creates a short get together of what the title says 'The Vampire Diaries' by showing an vampire coloured eye to a diary.

A long shot is also included of the school 'Mystic Falls' with the students in front and around it. This shows the audience where it is filmed and where the drama is based in. 'Mystic Falls' is also a stereotypical name for a place including vampires.

All this is shown in a very fast pace as it shows glimpses and small clips to make up the title sequence so that it does not give away too much information to the audience but enough for the audience to get interested and excited to watch it.
