Choice of Sound used

Choice of sounds used

We had chosen to use the song 'Brother' by Krept and Konan as the song compliments and goes in very will with out title sequences and its plot as it is about the relationship between brothers.
The sound also has a very slow sound which has some powerful and deep lyrics about the relationship between brothers which puts more effect and emotion into the title sequence which will make the audience feel more moved and emotional which will make them more attracted to watch.
The song also contains the lyrics 'I'll remember you and all you've done" repeatedly which creates an emphasis on audience on the sad incident of a murder and the heartache of it.

Sound effects:

We also used sound effects such as the police sirens and cars driving on a road as it is about crime on the streets, and in the title sequence it mostly happens outside which the sound effects then makes it more realistic. The police sirens are used on a blank screen after the brother gets stabbed which makes it much more effective as we know that t he police has arrived in the storyline but the audience cannot see what will happen next which will make them want to see more.

24. Shortlist of fonts and styles- Sharmin Sardar

24. Shortlist of fonts and styles/typefaces

We can use these for out title on our title sequence 'Brotherhood'.
The main colours focused on are red and blue as firstly red is the colour of love, relationships, and blood of course!
And blue is stereotyped as a boys colour and both colours relate to the relationship and story in our title sequence of 'Brotherhood' between two brothers.

Costume & Iconography

Costume

1. Bodywarmer

The bodywarmer is the most significant item of clothing in the title sequence as it belonged to Tion, Reece's older brother. Tion is known for wearing the bodywarmer but as Reece is wearing it he ends up being killed due to the recognition of the bodywarmer. This creates shock and an omnious atmosphere for the audience.

2. Hoodies and Trackuits

These items of clothing were chosen as they best represent male youths of today. Having the characters wear convetional clothing gives the audience a sense of realism and therefore can understand and relate to the characters and deveelop a sense of attachment.

Make-Up

1. Stab Wound / Blood

Iconography

1.  Knife

This is the most significant piece of iconography in the title sequence as it is the weapon that kills Reece and so the audience will remember it. We chose a knife instead of a gun as it is more accessible, but also because troubled youths that are involved in gang violence tend to use knives more than guns. Again we are trying to create  real and conventional characters so our target audience can relate to the film.

2. Phones

43.Reflection on what goes well and what needs to be re-shot by sofia

After a few  filming sessions we realised that a lot of what we filmed needs to be re-shot for example-

  • we will have to re shoot Salvatore (the protagonist) leaving his house to make it seem more realistic because the shots we have are not to the standard that we require them to be at.
  • Korie  (one of the actors)  bedroom scene again because they are not to the standard we would like them to be at so we will keep re-shooting until our shots are perfect.
  • we also need close up shots of the text message which we will then hologram so it can pop up on the screen clearly to the audiences veiw.
  • shots of Salvatore and Julius walking around.
  • The main shots we have but need more off are Establishing shots because they set the scene and emphasise the hood and reality of our title sequence.
  • we are going to film some more over the shoulder shots to show the different angles and directions the camera can be positioned in.
  • To show diversity in angles we will film some more high angle shots and low shots.

30- Location- Sharmin Sardar

Locations we have chosen for our title sequence

We have chosen areas of East London to film our title sequence as there are areas that have the view of the O2 and the river Thames and it looks urban as 'hood boys' are stereotyped to be hanging out in risky and discrete areas. The view and setting is also really appealing tot he eye and looks good on camera.

We will also film parts in Southbank and areas in South as it looks more street and hood based in certain areas. Our aim is to make it look as realistic as we can make it.
We will make our actors walk across the riverside which will also be portrayed as our background feature
