Idents For Title Sequence

Costume & Iconography

Costume

1. Bodywarmer

The bodywarmer is the most significant item of clothing in the title sequence as it belonged to Tion, Reece's older brother. Tion is known for wearing the bodywarmer but as Reece is wearing it he ends up being killed due to the recognition of the bodywarmer. This creates shock and an omnious atmosphere for the audience.

2. Hoodies and Trackuits

These items of clothing were chosen as they best represent male youths of today. Having the characters wear convetional clothing gives the audience a sense of realism and therefore can understand and relate to the characters and deveelop a sense of attachment.

Make-Up

1. Stab Wound / Blood

Iconography

1.  Knife

This is the most significant piece of iconography in the title sequence as it is the weapon that kills Reece and so the audience will remember it. We chose a knife instead of a gun as it is more accessible, but also because troubled youths that are involved in gang violence tend to use knives more than guns. Again we are trying to create  real and conventional characters so our target audience can relate to the film.

2. Phones

23 Which institution will produce your film, which company will distribute your film Sofia

Our title sequence is a Youth Drama inspired by Kidadulthood and Anuvahood which show stereotypical teenagers at their best, getting up to what adults think they get up to; doing drugs, having sex, crime etc and a lot of drama.  Our genre is crime/action because not only the teenagers stereo-typically live through a lot of action, they apparently commit a lot of crimes.

We are an independent production.  The producers that are sponsoring us are Stealth, TMC and Cipher. We have a low budget so these are the companies that can produce at a low cost.

We also have a wide range of distributors which is good because our title sequence will be watched in the UK, Germany, Brazil, USA and Finland.  The distributors are: Revolver Entertainment, Capelight Pictures, Focus Films, Image Entertainment and Future Film respectively.

18 Summarise how to create titles motion Sofia

Motion is an editing piece of software which allows you to edit your sequence and decide where your title sequences will go and for how long they will be there for.  You can decide if music will be involved or if you want to add narrative.  In motion in the first screen you can design your title with the different fonts and colours and then position it wherever you want in the sequence.  You can edit it so that the titles can enter the screen from different positions. You can decide all aspects of the title.

19 Summarise how to create soundtracks and in Garageband Sofia

In Garageband there is a variety of sounds and musical instruments and vocals which you can use to add to your title sequence to give it more realism.  For example you can drag them and place them where you want them for how long you want the music to be there.  You can edit it to make the music faster or slower and you can change the tone.  You can also add voice to the track.  It is good because you can attached instruments to it and play the music into it so that you can edit it afterwards.  If you want to have someone speaking, you can then add music to the background.

10 Target Audience by Sofia

A target audience is the people who you are trying to reach out to and get to come and see your product. In our case we are using stereotypical 'Hood' story to reach out to teenagers who experience circumstances such as gun and knife related crime. The primary audience is the people who you are initially trying to reach out to for instance in our title sequence we are trying to target young teenage males who experience and live in a community where they are seen as thugs and criminals because of the way they dress and act. The secondary audience could be people who don't understand why young people act the way they do. It could be a parent or a middle aged person who doesn't understand what teenage life is like now because they are adults. Interview/survey info?

43.Reflection on what goes well and what needs to be re-shot by sofia

After a few  filming sessions we realised that a lot of what we filmed needs to be re-shot for example-

  • we will have to re shoot Salvatore (the protagonist) leaving his house to make it seem more realistic because the shots we have are not to the standard that we require them to be at.
  • Korie  (one of the actors)  bedroom scene again because they are not to the standard we would like them to be at so we will keep re-shooting until our shots are perfect.
  • we also need close up shots of the text message which we will then hologram so it can pop up on the screen clearly to the audiences veiw.
  • shots of Salvatore and Julius walking around.
  • The main shots we have but need more off are Establishing shots because they set the scene and emphasise the hood and reality of our title sequence.
  • we are going to film some more over the shoulder shots to show the different angles and directions the camera can be positioned in.
  • To show diversity in angles we will film some more high angle shots and low shots.

A Simple Draft of a Potential Title Sequence

Sound Designs 1

As a group we have been researching different instrumentals that we think we could potentially use in our title sequence, based on our own preferences which will help create originality.

Drake - 0 to 100

Wiz Khalifa - Ass Drop

Lil Durk - Jealous

Tyga ft. The Game - Switch Lanes

Bobby Shmurda ft. Rowdy Rebel- Living Life

Partynextdoor ft. Drake - Recognize

Tyga - Rack City

Meek Mill - Monster

We also researched the soudntracks in similar Youth Drama films so the audience will be aware of what sub-genre our film will be based on familiarity:

Kidulthood

 Lethal Bizzle - Pow (2004)

30- Location- Sharmin Sardar

Locations we have chosen for our title sequence

We have chosen areas of East London to film our title sequence as there are areas that have the view of the O2 and the river Thames and it looks urban as 'hood boys' are stereotyped to be hanging out in risky and discrete areas. The view and setting is also really appealing tot he eye and looks good on camera.

We will also film parts in Southbank and areas in South as it looks more street and hood based in certain areas. Our aim is to make it look as realistic as we can make it.
We will make our actors walk across the riverside which will also be portrayed as our background feature
