Effects

Effects

We use filters to emphasise realisms amongst scenes, and to enhance the mise-en-scene.

We used a black and white filter to reveal to the audience it was a flash back through all of the events of his day which highlight the body warmer and again reveals that the reason the motive actually happened is because he takes his brothers body warmer and there fore he suffer's the consequences, shows the impact small everyday objects can have on our day to day lives.

We used the reverse effect at the end of our title sequence, to make more scene to the audience of what we were trying to get across. We know that a lot of other groups used the reverse technique this year to make up time because their title sequences were too sort, where in contrast  we used it to help illustrate the storyline and to clarify any confusion. This editing technique leaves our title sequence n an immediate  cliff hanger, making people  want to watch the rest of our film because they are so hooked on the first three minutes, title sequences are useful because they give you quite a great understanding and insight of what you should expect late on in the film.

As our title sequence was too long we had to shave of a couple of seconds on the smoking scenes and other parts which helped set the scene and gave a greater miss en scene We sped up certain clips to show time moving on and different aspects of time . we also  put on the reverse at the end and the Elipsise to add to the effects off how fast time has passed, in this eventful day.

we tried to stick to our genre and therefore we tried to shoot some scenes as if they were un-proffesionly  filmed on a phone for example, which explains the shake shots in the bedroom scenes when everyones is chilling and smoking. These specific shots where specifically made in a specific shake and low angel form to enhance the mise en scene as if there was a phone positioned on the floor recording from below, allowing us to have a more insiders perspective on the current events.

sound

We decided to use a song called brothers by kept and konan because its quite an old song from before they where signed so theres no copy righting issues and it relates to our title sequence which is called brotherhood.

We also decided to uses specific sound effects such as police sirens for when they approach Salvatore and potentially stab him.

We also included the North Greenwich public transport sound to make the traveling scenes more effective and realistic   which can be hurd in our title sequence.

Effects

.We use filters to help understand and add effect to scenes.

We used filters such as the black and white filter to help the audience understand it was a flash back to earlier.

We also used the reverse effect at the end of our title sequence, we noticed that a lot of other groups used this to take up time because their title sequences were too sort, where as we used it to help illustrate the storyline. It leaves the title sequence on a cliff hanger, making people watch more as they know quite a lot of information but not enough to be at ease as we reveal a large chunk of the storyline in the opening scenes

We sped up certain clips to shave off a couple seconds because our title sequence was too long. Also it's put on the reverse at the end and the Elipsise to add to the effects off time passing or how fast time has passed.

We used filters to make a segment of our title sequence seem like it's being recorded on a phone, those shots where's videoed to be shakey n lowery resolution so it seemed more likely to be videoed on a phone along with the filter making the shots relevant to what's going on in the film

Sound

We used UK's award winning artists Krept and Konan's song Brother as we thought it best complimented the story we were trying to tell through piece of media.

We also used folley sounds like jogging footsteps on concrete, gasping, staving scenes and many more to add effect to the scenes such as the closing scenes. We also used train announcements to narrate where the characters are going, this was effective as we couldn't do this as effect through mise en scene or dialogue.

Also, we used dialogue from some of the clips to help tell the story that couldn't be shown through actions alone.

Elipsise

We use a Timelaps Elipsise we found on YouTube. We used short segments of this to represent the change of time over between clips so clips do not skip from light to dark and to generally make our piece not coherant.

Choice of Sound used

Choice of sounds used

We had chosen to use the song 'Brother' by Krept and Konan as the song compliments and goes in very will with out title sequences and its plot as it is about the relationship between brothers.
The sound also has a very slow sound which has some powerful and deep lyrics about the relationship between brothers which puts more effect and emotion into the title sequence which will make the audience feel more moved and emotional which will make them more attracted to watch.
The song also contains the lyrics 'I'll remember you and all you've done" repeatedly which creates an emphasis on audience on the sad incident of a murder and the heartache of it.

Sound effects:

We also used sound effects such as the police sirens and cars driving on a road as it is about crime on the streets, and in the title sequence it mostly happens outside which the sound effects then makes it more realistic. The police sirens are used on a blank screen after the brother gets stabbed which makes it much more effective as we know that t he police has arrived in the storyline but the audience cannot see what will happen next which will make them want to see more.
